As of today, we have now lost over 2,000 US troops since the war in Iraq began in March, 2003. 2,001 have been killed, to be exact, though sadly there is no doubt there will be more to come.
The most recent losses were of Lance Cpl. Jonathan R. Spears, 21 years old, of Molino, Florida, and Staff Sgt. George T. Alexander, Jr., 34 years old, of Killeen, Texas.
To you, and to the 1,999 who have fallen before you, I hope you are at peace.
I will not forget your sacrifice.
