Saw the film Waitress this weekend - I was really rooting for this one, a sweet little indi pic starring Keri Russell (aka Felicity, which of course I loved b/c it was created by JJ Abrams, aka Father Of All Excellent Television). But, aside from making me crave a slice of pie this movie did little else for me. Keri Russell plays Jenna, a small-town diner waitress with a big time talent for baking pies, and an even bigger time plan to get the hell out of the backwater town and dysfunctional marriage she is in. But Jenna's unexpected pregnancy turns the tables on her escape plans.
The writing is not nearly as funny or sweet as I'd hoped, and the story is predictable even for a romantic dramady...this is one dessert you can skip.
