Very cool show at The Whitney - if anyone is in the NYC area you should check this out! Summer of Love: Art of the Psychedelic Era is a showing of photographs, paintings, light installations, record albums, and LSD (yep) from the hippie-days, and museum visitors get headsets to listen to tunes from the times while tripping (ahem) down memory lane.
The art was meant to reflect the era of the time - the anger and outrage, the demands for social change, the distrust of the government's continued corruption gone unchecked, and the horrors of a war no one could fully understand or explain....sounds a little familiar, though I think what's occurring now is something along the lines of "anger-lite" unfortunately.
The show is as moving as it is fun - grab your John Lennon sunglasses and head to the Whitney before the show ends in September!
