Day 3 started out w/ our tuk-tuk driver picking us up at 8AM to take us out to some of the really remote temples way out in the sticks - we were psyched. But 2 hours later we were still driving (bouncing) along the dirt roads of the Cambodian countryside and no temples in sight…and then the road turned from dirt to ankle-deep mud and after a few stop-and-start again moments where I was pretty sure we’d have to get out and push the tuk tuk thru the mud, we ended up pulling the plug on the trip. (Note to self: off-roading in a tuk tuk is NOT a good idea....)
Totally bummed but it was the right call - had it started to rain at ALL we’d have never gotten back to Siem Reap that day…so we turned around and hit a smaller temple:
Then headed back to Siem Reap. The cool part was the fact that we got to ride way WAY outside of town and we saw some really amazing sites of the villages along the roads and the people living and working there:
We spent the rest of the day hanging out in Siem Reap shopping and eating at The Blue Pumpkin which everyone should stop by if you’re in Siem Reap – best ice cream anywhere.
